SAFETY CHECKLIST
How
does your home rate?
Every
year hundreds of Australians are accidentally injured or killed
in their homes. Thousands more suffer from asthma or allergy-induced
illness caused by factors within the home, others become ill due
to unhealthy conditions.
This
checklist has been prepared by Archicentre, the housing advisory
division of The Royal Australian Institute of Architects to help
ensure a safe and healthy standard of housing for all Australians.
The Asthma Foundation has provided recommendations for home owners
to help reduce allergens and asthma attacks. The Child Accident
Prevention Foundation, Kidsafe, has provided more details on the
dangers lurking in every house (much of this information is valuable
for adult safety as well as children.)
