The Garden of Life Schools Program
An Australian Coalition ‘99
International Year of Older Persons Project
As a partner of Australian Coalition ‘99 Green Web Gardening has created a special project for children to introduce their grandparents or special older friends to the new technology of the Internet whilst at the same time posting a personal story about their gardening experiences.
All personal stories will be archived on the Green Web ‘Garden of Life' for revisiting, sharing and can also be printed out as a special certificate for the 1999 International Year of Older Persons.
‘The Garden of Life' Schools project is aimed at recording the special part gardening plays in the life of older persons and providing an opportunity to share gardening experiences with their grandchildren.

The program provides schools with a promotional strategy for children and grandparents, a flyer describing the project, a promotional strategy for local media including a prepared press release.

Schools Program Summary
The Garden of Life Grandparents or Special Friends Day involves inviting the grandparents to the school to see the Internet in action bridging the age and technology gap.
Students would have already posted the personal story of their grandparents' garden on the Internet and on the day of the visit they would show their story on ‘The Garden of Life' and be presented with a print out to take away.
This means the project can be completed for all grandparents on the day and is not dependent on schools having access to a major bank of computers.
Students with computers at home can be encouraged to post their grandparents' story or their own story about their experiences with their grandparents in the garden from home.
Students could print out the Garden of Life Stories and form a display for the day.
We would also recommend another approach be taken where grandparents who have already discussed The Garden of Life program with their families log on with their grandchildren to create The Garden of Life certificate together as a learning process and experience on the web.
