A Message from Kevin Heinze

Patron of the Horticultural Therapy Association of Victoria

Asking people to participate and to give their ideas is an important  communication pattern. Just as when we ask children to be part of the home by helping in the garden and with other tasks, we should encourage them to give their ideas.

We should also make sure that when we encourage mature aged people to move into a smaller home with little, or no garden, that it is their decision.

Horticultural therapy allows people of all walks of life the chance of working together and sharing the knowledge they have gathered over a life time.

Supporting each other will be the way of life in the future. It is wonderful to watch a person with a disability going through their daily life. How great it is to listen and learn from these people.

I believe people must be asked about their thoughts, about the life they are living, if we intend to get full value for theirs and our lives.

While people involved in horticultural therapy give of themselves and share their lives I also know they receive so much from the people they help.
